IF YOU WORKING PARENTS OF THE PRE-SCHOOL’S CHILD

    • ‘Monitor’ your child while you’re at home. Never be bored to ask your child if he feels comfortable and happy with the environment 'learning' in its class ? Is there a figure that care to him and capable to be trusting bonding ?

    • Never feel suspicious to your child ‘school’ if there is something happen. Try to be open minded about all the factor that cause. Could be from you or a family environment. Try to get a better solution you have to stop work or make decision to ‘ take out’ your child from school.

    • Try to understand that your child always want to close to you. Sometimes odd behavior merely seeking attention. If quit from your work is a hard decision, you can slightly reduce the working hours anyway so that your child feels comfortable for your presence at home.

    • Your decision to choose the pre-school is a decision of you both as a parents and not dictated by another or the results of the study, commercial advertising or other without ever knowing directly. Makae sure that your decision is the best decision for your whole family.

    • Choosing a school for your child is not only about the money. It’s about the taste (sense). As a parent you have to know what is the best for not only you but also your child.
    So, be wise..

    TIPS TO CHOOSE THE PRE-SCHOOL



    Still related with my article before, choosing an appropriate pre-school sometimes can be easy but sometimes not. Need consideration, accuracy and also ‘struggle’ to get it. And here is some tips to choose the pre-school :

    Make an appointment.

    Make appointment with every school to visit. Ask the program or curriculum and adjust the program with your child’s needs. Also ask about how to register, entrance fee, the cost of learning, and facility usage fees.

    Observation.

    In some schools, the school survey services are now beginning combined with the observation activities. So when visiting, you’re not only allowed to check the infrastructure of the school, but also can feel the atmosphere of the school directly. Some of schools also have one day trial program for the prospective parents.


    Check the ratio

    Look at the ratio of teachers to the students. Ideally the ratio of teachers – students is 1 : 3 – 5. So if the numbers of ths students is 12, the teachers who take care of is 3 people ( 2 primary teachers and 1 aides teacher ).


    Have same ideology

    Choose the schools that have similar ideological which held by the family. It's important that your child does not become confused when getting these lessons.


    Observed the characters of the teachers.

    Observed the way of the teachers when implement of education and discipline. How did the body language and tone of voice when the teacher scolded the child. Take a look at how social interaction and communication that exists between teachers and students and others.


    The Teachers Turn Over.

    Observed the turn over of the children. Faculty turnover can be a reference about how the foundation / school management was treating them. The convenience of the teacher can affect the learning process.


    Facilities.

    Make sure that the school has an adequate facilities and infrastructure that maintained well and clean.


    Location.

    Choose the location of schools that not too far away from home. Don’t takes requires extra cost, time just on trip to the school.


    Get the references.

    Get information from family or friends who send their children to various pre-school. Ask for information about the situation and the conditions according to their own experiences.


    Make second visit

    Visit the pre-school that you choose at least twice. At first you come by yourself and the second you come with your child and ask about their opinion. Introduce your child with the teachers that will teach them.


    Professional ?

    Try to assess, whether the school staff is really professional, trained and even have the educational background of education about children.


    No Prestige

    Never choose the pre-school just because of prestige. You have to consider about the comfort factor for the child with due regard to environmental factors of schools, don’t make them under pressure.


    Snack.

    Ask about the food / snacks are usually given to children. About nutrients and hygiene and also about the health services if the child is getting sick?


    Fund.

    Prepare financially sufficient. Each school has a variety of educational costs. Choose schools that match with your financial situation.


    So, be smart parents for your smart children.

    IF PRE-SCHOOL AS A CHOICE



    Dear parents, I’m sure that you’d like your children to grow bright and cheerful. Providing early education is absolutely needed. But, have you been precisely to choose pre-school for your children ?

    On 3 – 4 years old is the golden age of your little ‘sweety’. In this age, your children need some challenges in group to ‘pour’ their ideas. Naturally, they always have a big curiosity.

    A child growing, both mental and intelligence not only get at home. So they need ‘ place ‘ for learning and interacting. Good pre-school is not only able to stimulate the child to be smart, but also give a chance for the child to explore their world. It’s caused the pre-school education are correlated to children’s academic achievement when they enter to the next education level. A study conducted by the Trust for Early Education ( TEE ), United States, find that the child on 4 years old that have opportunity to learn in pre-school have better capability in terms of spelling and arithmetic. They also have well manage behavior easier and quicker and better in terms of internal absorption. But it also depend on the teacher of the pre-school itself. The teachers that are educated, trained and familiar in the world of early childhood development is an important factor in maximizing the potential growth of their students. Good and right teaching is an important foundation for children to follow the next education level.

    But today has been a shift in the basic principles of educational vision and mission of pre-school children. Pre-school tend to be understood as an academic or learning activities (reading, writing and arithmetic). In fact, the most important of pre-school education is how the education leads to the development of basic skills of the child development like discipline, the ability to create and creativity and self-control.

    So make the right consideration when choose the pre-school for your children. Try to be critical whether the pre-school you choose have experienced teachers, sensitive and caring nature and have grown up to be able to become your child's ‘trusting bonding’ and be able to support the development of emotional, social, and cognitive abilities of your child. Just remember, that decision to ‘put’ your children in pre-school does not mean that you are completely out of your duty as educator.

    Because of a good pre-school is if it makes you as partners in the team, not just those who entrust the care of children. Because after all, you're the parent who could be the real ‘trusting bonding’ for your children.

    TIPS TO WEAN YOUR BABY FROM THEIR BABY BOTTLE


    You must have seen the above one-year-old is still drinking milk from a baby bottle. His parents may be so difficult to wean him from his bottle. The dentist said that one of the factors of tooth decay of the kids is baby bottle. Just because ‘ love ‘ their bottle very much, they don’t have beautiful smile anymore.

    You should wean your kids from their bottle earlier. Most doctors and child psychologists recommend 9 -12 months of age as the most appropriate time to release the child from the bottle. Here is some tips to avoid your kid to be ‘ baby bottle lover ‘ :
    • Recommend the glass in stages. Some brands of feeding equipment has the various shape of glass that suitable according your kid’s age.
    • Give the milk or water by the glass ( choose the cover according your kid’s age ) and let them make some experiment with it.
    • Start with once a day using glass, and then some other times use the bottle. In next several weeks the period of bottle using must be reduced and glass using is more often.
    • Say good bye to the bottle after several weeks then use only glass.

    If it had succeeded in this stages, never return to the bottle. Because once you get back to the bottle, your kids will use this chance to manage you and get back to be ‘ baby bottle lover ‘.

    On age between 1 – 2 years old, your kids start using mental and motor skills to pick and choose. In this age of developing what is called the autonomy where your child believed himself capable of doing anything themselves. But if this is not conducive to getting a response from the people around, the development will be the opposite, like a sense of shame and self doubt. Children can be like that if too much is forbidden.
    As a parent, of course you want the best for your kids, including the development of autonomy in them. Here are 6 ways to be a positive parents :
    • Not too much banned. As long as you keep on eyes and take care of them, give them a bit of freedom of movement for your kids.
    • Don’t be over protective for the things that are naturally encountered, like not given the opportunity to play outside for fear of being exposed to germs.

    By the age of two years old, children have what is usually called “ language explosion “. Their vocabulary increases rapidly. They understand what are you talking about and much better to express their desires. In 1 – 2 years old, there are 3 main achievements in development of language of kid communication :
    • They have about 15 words before 18 months old.
    • Combines 2 words in one sentence before 2 years old.
    • Understand the simple instruction before 2 years old

    Your kid may still communicate using their body language like pointing something that they want. Nothing wrong if use the body language, but the priority in this age is verbal language development as the communication facilities for kid. So if your child point to glass, you can ask him, “ do you want to drink ? “. Then wait their reaction ( nodded, shook his head or answer with the short answer ). Then you can ask again, “ What do you want to drink ? Milk or tea ? “. These inducements will motivate your kid to respond and get involved in conversation.

    A. SMOKE

    Avoid the smoke of cigarette . The smoke of cigarette causing inhibits the growth of the fetus because the blood circulation to the fetus to be hampered so the baby that will be born will have underweight and the fetus will not growth optimally.

    • Cigarette smoke can cause spontaneous abortion
    • Cigarette smoke can cause sudden damage to the placenta, so that the placenta can block the birth canal
    • Cigarette smoke can cause premature infants
    • Also can reduce lung function who were long-term effects of baby's physical and mental in future.

    B. ROOM TEMPERATURE

    Room temperature that too cold is not good for pregnant women. Keep the temperature in a comfortable way. If the temperature is too cold it will make headache, stiff neck, tingling, stuffy nose, flatulence and more frequent urination. The weaknesses of room with Air Conditioning is circulation of air is only in one room. So if someone getting influenza, the pregnant women will be infected faster because she has decreased endurance. In otherwise, if the temperature is too hot will make dehydration which may endanger the safety of the fetus.

    C. SITTING TOO LONG

    To avoid any risk to the fetus is keep walking around. Sitting too long will getting interference with the bones and muscles. It’s caused the calcium of pregnant women is absorbed by fetus. The frequent complain of it is spasms and cramps commonly called hypocalsemy.

    D. TOILET USING

    Pregnant women are more prone to the toilet. Keep the toilet clean because germs or viruses can harm the fetus.

    CARDIOVASCULAR DISEASE – ACUTE MYOCARDIAL INFARCTION

    Cardiovascular disease is one of the deadly diseases in the world. Acute Myocardial Infarction is acute coronary syndrome that causes dead, especially in the first hours after the appearance of symptoms. By knowing the symptoms earlier, we can diagnose immediately so we don’t waste the time to save the heart muscle as much as possible and avoid the complication and fatality.Acute Coronary Syndrome characterized by an imbalance myocardial oxygen supply. It causes Acute Myocardial Infarction and chest pain.

    Acute Myocardial Infarction Symptoms.

    The chest pain of Acute Myocardial Infarction Symptoms usually lasted more than 20 minutes. Retrosternal spread to the jaw, back and left arm. The pain can be described as burning sensation, on top of heavy objects, such as crumpled and like tingling. Sometimes the pain is felt in epigastric area that is often interpreted as dyspepsia. Symptoms of chest pain is often followed by a cold sweat, nausea, vomiting, feeling faint, dizziness, feeling of floating and fainting ( syncope ). If the symptoms of heart disease was caused by sudden and in high intensity, it may be Acute Myocardial Infarction. Instead, the complaint can be very unclear, especially in people with diabetes mellitus and old age.

    Acute Myocardial Infarction Complication.

    Complications linked to heart disease causes a triad of death in hospital, ie ischemic, arrhythmias, heart failure.

    Medical complications:

    Arrhytmias.

    Complications often occur within a few hours to 48 hours since the attacks of heart disease. Patients with acute myocardial ischemia that can not be reached in the hospital to get help, most died of malignant arrhythmias. Malignant arrhythmias are life-threatening arrhytmias causing hemodynamic deterioration. These arrhythmias can be divided into 2 major parts: Bradiaritmia and Takiaritmia.

    • Bradiaritmia. Imbalance can be caused by sympathetic - parasympathetic, heart disease, especially in the inferior wall IMA. Ventricular Takiaritmia most responsive to therapy Lidocaine IV. Recurrent small part can be given Amiodraone IV. In the event of ventricular fibrillation conducted according to standart protocol defibrilasi. Prophylactic lidocaine on the Acute Myocardial Infarction routinely is not recommended.

    Heart Failure.

    Complications of heart disease is the second commonest, especially in anterior wall myocardial, large anterior because contractile elements damaged. In the anterior Acute Myocardial Infarction to watch, a sign :

    • Tachycardia is not clear why (> 110 x / min).

    • Tend hypotension

    • Patient anxiety, decreased tissue perfusion

    • Breathing frequency increased

    • Decreased urine production

    • Physical examination found bilateral ronki wet, Gallop, noisy mitral regurgitation

    All the above signs is a sign of left heart failure.

    Heart disease mortality Acute Myocardial Infarction with cardiogenic shock 80 %. The principle of treatment is to increase coronary flow, reduced cardiac work and improve the flow of systemic. Besides the general resuscitation measures on heart disease remain to be done that is oxygen - ventilation, correction of electrolyte, acid base, eliminate pain and maintain sinus rhythm. Dopamine and dobutamin used to improve contractility and to maintain blood pressure.

    FORMULA MILK AS HEALTHY FOOD FOR BABY

    As usual, on 6 months old and over, the babies began to be introduced to formula milk as their healthy food. Especially for working mother. You start to introduce the formula milk as the breast milk substitutes. Some of you may be have the some difficulty to introduce milk formula to your babies, because some of them don’t like it. So it will be your concern that their nutritious is not enough it will influence their growth.

    Actually, the formula milk not affect to much to the babies. Although the formula milk contain a lot of elements that needed by your babies, especially vitamins and calcium that very important for their tooth and bones. If your baby doesn’t like it, you can get the important elements from the healthy food for baby that make on milk based, like ice cream, porridge with cheese, milk biscuits and yoghurt.

    Here is some tips to introduce the formula milk to your baby :
    • In the first week, try to mix breast milk and formula milk by comparison 60 ml breast milk + 2 spoon of formula milk. Make sure that milk has up in one hour.

    • In the second week, try to mix the milk with composition 1 : 1.

    • Do this way continuously on the third and fourth week, while you reducing the breast milk and add composition of formula milk until you can give pure formula milk.

    There is no formula milk is 100 % good or not good, because breast milk is the best for babies. So adjust the brand milk according your babies needs.

    TIPS TO HELP YOU IF YOUR BABY WAKE UP AND CRYING IN THE NIGHT

    Many of you may want your baby to sleep through the night. But as many new parents can tell you, it's a sight they don't see nearly often enough. Here is some tips to make your baby bedtime easier.
    • Your baby loves to be gently rocked and swayed, its caused when your baby in womb, your walking motions lulled her to sleep. Keep noise and activity to a minimum and create some comfort rituals for him like reading a book or singing an humming a quiet song. Some babies also comfort on music.
    • A little whimpering upon waking is normal. Although you should still go to your baby when she cries, give her a little time (five minutes or so) to whimper and cry. She may settle down on her own and go back to sleep.
    • Rub your baby gently and speak softly to reassure her that you are there. She may have a favourite soft toy or blanket to snuggle up to at night. Such familiar things will make your baby feel safe.
    • Put your baby to bed while she's still awake. This way she'll have practice falling asleep in her own bed. If she's fed or rocked to sound sleep, she'll expect the same service in the middle of the night.
    • If you need to feed or change your baby, do it quickly and quietly, without turning on the lights. Don't talk to your baby or play with her at this time. This will teach your baby that nothing exciting happens in the night and that talking and playing only happen during the day.
    • Babies don't care whether they sleep at night and stay awake during the day, or the other way around. It's up to parents to teach them which is better.

    There's nothing like the sight of a peacefully sleeping baby. A newborn usually sleeps between 16 and 19 hours per day, often waking every two to three hours to eat. Until my lovely daughter always said why the baby always sleep all day ? Actually some babies are long sleepers and some are catnappers. Some are very regular and others are very irregular.


    How Much Sleep Does a Baby Need ?


    Sleep is an important factor in all our lives. When we sleep, we rest and our body is able to renew its energy. It is quite natural that we spend a lot of time talking about how we have slept and whether our babies have slept and how much.


    Sleep is also important because of dreams. When we dream, we process all the events of daily life. Getting a good night's sleep, therefore, influences our psychological wellbeing.


    Sleeping well is often a result of having good sleeping habits, which parents are responsible for teaching to their children. Written by Dr Stuart Crisp, paediatric specialist registrar.


    Newborn.


    A newborn usually sleeps between 16 and 19 hours per day, often waking every two to three hours to eat. He needs to sleep and feed around the clock to grow and develop correctly. He doesn’t know the difference between night and day.


    During the day, talk to your baby more while you feed her. Keep it light and bright. At night, be more subdued and quiet and keep the lighting down . It will teach them to make different between night and day. And it make her catch on and begin to sleep more at night.


    How much sleep does a three-month-old need?


    A three-month-old baby usually sleeps between 13 and 15 hours per day. But they still need to wake up to eat during the night. Although their pattern is starting to become more regular, it's also starting to vary. Follow their lead. It's too early for a set schedule, and trying to force one on their wouldn't be healthy.


    Your baby will sleep most of these hours at night and will stay awake much longer during the day, although they'll be working their way toward three naps a day. As always, this varies with the baby. And don't be surprised if your baby starts to be "hyperawake" and crying in the late afternoon or evening. This fussiness is normal. When they do settle, they’re likely to sleep longer.


    How much sleep does an infant need from 6 to 12 months?


    The average 6-month-old sleeps about 11 hours each night and has settled into two naps of about one to two hours, usually in the morning and afternoon. Your baby is starting to get more opinionated, however. This is your last chance to decide where you want her to sleep without her becoming a vocal part of the decision-making process. Developing firm bedtime routines will help her get herself to sleep and stay asleep.


    If your baby wakes up at night, it is now all right to let five minutes pass before you go to her. By now you will probably recognise your baby's different cries for when she is hungry, tired or in pain.


    In this period, your baby can sleep through the night, with no need for midnight snacks or early-morning conversations unless you want to spend this time with your baby or are trying to keep up your milk supply.


    Always remember, that there will be times when your baby will wake up during the night, no matter what. Be aware during these times, especially if the change in his sleeping pattern is sudden. This may indicate he is going through a growth spurt and needs extra feedings, or it could be the first signs of an oncoming illness.
